Duda Farm -- August 2009 : Each summer, the Duda Farm (located west of West Palm Beach and south of Belle Glade, Florida) floods its fields in preparation for planting the fall crops. The relatively low water levels attract thousands of wading and shore birds as well as migrating song birds as they travel south to winter in South Florida, Central and South America. The owners of the farm graciously allow the local Audubon Society of the Everglades access on one or two days at this time. While not normally in South Florida at this time of year, I happened to be this particular summer and took advantage of the opportunity. It was well worth it.

Boynton Inlet -- Spring 2009 : 6990 North Ocean Blvd, Boynton Beach, FL 33435, 561.966.6600 In Palm Beach County, Florida the Boynton Inlet (also referred to as the South Lake Worth Inlet) is one of only four connections between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean. While offering fabulous fishing opportunities, it is considered my many (most) yachtsmen to be extremely dangerous and should be avoided by all but the most experienced. The area attracts a wide variety of sea and shore birds, some of which are displayed here.
